ResMed introduces the VPAP III series, the latest addition to ResMed family of bileve devices. The VPAP III range is complete system solution, which helps treat a variety of respiratory disorders.

Effective Synchronization – The VPAP Way

Achieving breath-to breath synchronization is a challenge. Meeting this challenge is the key to effective treatment and the foundation for comfortable bilevel therapy.
The VPAP III system has all the tools you need to achieve and maintain effective patient-machine synchronization. these tools include excellent features and techniques for managing leak and disease –related conditions.

Managing leak

The VPAP III series provides three levels of defense against leak:

• ResMed masks have built ResMed’s reputation the world leader in masks that maximize comfort while minimizing leaks.

• The Vsync algorithm is the proprietary, automatic leak management algorithm unique to the VPAP

• TiControl helps controls inspiratory time to achieve synchronization even in the presence of large mask and mouth leaks.

Managing disease-related conditions

The VPAP III series provides a wide pressure range, form 2 to 25cm H2O, offering greater flexibility to manage disease-related conditions.

Controlling inspiratory time limits is very important when treating those with respiratory disorders. During bilevel treatment, the inspiratory time for some ppatients can potentially be too short or too long. The TiControl feature allows you to set limits for the inspiratory time of these patients.

Extra Comfort – Enhancing Therapy

The VPAP III series enhances patient comfort on several ways.

Integrated humidification
The high flow of air during positive pressure application may cause dryness in the nasal and upper airway and Nasal Airway Resisitance (NAR). This discomfort may increase in the presence of laek may enve result in noncompliance with the therapy.

VPAP III offers a solution – an optional, integrated humidifier – the HumidAire 2i Humidification helps to alleviate discomfort and relieves symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, mouth dryness, and thick nasal stuffiness, mouth dryness, and thick nalsal secretions.

The HumidAire 2i module is small and portable. It is designed for easy attachment and detachment to suit therapy requirements for varying symptoms and seasons. It is also valuable during therapy trials.

Comfortable transitions

The VPAP III series provides “ comfortable transitions” in several ways – form other therapes to bilevel therapy, and form other devices to VPAP

• easy progression form acute to chronic therapy , with flexibility and compatibility of settings

• easy transition from CPAP to bilevel therapy,with proven tools for effective synchronization and therapy acceptance.

Serveral features enable the VPAP III series to make the transitions comfortable:

• Variable speed motor enables controlled pressure changes that are responsive and comfortable to better meet patient needs

• adjustable rise time can provide the desired speed of response for pressure transitions

• data management features help these transitions by determining whether the settings are optimal for treatment

Treatment screens – monitoring the patient

The VPAP III treatment screens provide visible and objective data, enabling you to monitor the patient’s response to therapy in real time.

Smart Data - reassuring the patient

Samart Data provides overnight information on usage and mask fit, via the LCD screen. This helps to engage patients in the therapy and raise their motivation levels while providing reassurance. At the discretion of the clinician, access to Smart Data can be enabled or disabled.

ResLink module - managing the therapy

The new ResLink clinical therapy management module expanda and enhances the capabilities of the VPAP III system. It provides greater insights into therapy and visible, objective evidence that the device is delivering effective ventilation during sleep. The oximetry port with ResLink makes it a very valuable tool. ResLink provide detailed data on parameters such as minute ventilation, respiratory rate, leak AHI (Apnea Hypopnea Index) and events. It can also provide data on additional parameters such as oxygen saturation and pulse.

T_iCONTROL – Inspiratory Time Control

• TiControl sets minimum and maximum inspiratory time limits at either side of the patient’s ideal spontaneous inspiratory time.

• This provide a “window of opportunity” for the patient to spontaneously flow-cycle to the set expiratory pressure (EPAP).

• TiControl’s IPAP Min feature can help prevent late cycling (as seen in large leak conditions and in patients with obstructive disorders) to provide sufficient expiratory time.

• TiControl’s IPAP Min feature prevents premature or early cycling (as sometimes seen in patients with restrictive disorders) to provide sufficient inspiratory time.

• 
  By controlling inspiratory time limits, TiControl aids in the management of the patient’s response to treatment, resulting in better treatment outcomes.

Vsync – Automatic Leak Compensation

• Reliable trigger and cycle thresholds are very important for effective synchronization.

• Monitoring and compensating for leak, Vsync continuously and automatically adjusts the baseline flow.

• Vsync thus maintains reliable trigger and cycle thresholds.

One common platform
The VPAP III series modules are interchangeable with those of ResMed’s latest CPAP and AutoSet Spirit products. This provides one common platform to simplify product training and optimize inventory management.
